1. Who we are & scope
This policy explains how BetterForYourPocket ("we", "us"), a financial-intelligence platform operated from the Province of Québec, Canada, handles personal information. It covers the account you create and the features you use on the Platform. It does not cover third-party websites we link to.
2. Information we collect
Account data: your email address and authentication credentials (stored hashed, never in plain text). Billing data: if you subscribe, our payment processor (Stripe) handles the transaction; we store subscription status and a customer reference, never full card numbers. Content you create: watchlists, tracked wallets, alert rules, and onboarding preferences. Usage & technical data: pages visited, features used, and standard server logs (such as IP address and device/browser information) needed for security and reliability. Communications: messages you send us. We do not ask for financial-account numbers, and you should never send them to us.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to provide and secure the Platform, authenticate you, deliver alerts and reports you configure, process subscriptions, detect and prevent abuse, comply with legal obligations, and improve the service. We do not use your personal account information to make automated decisions that produce legal effects about you.
4. Legal bases for processing
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we process personal data on these bases: performance of our contract with you (to provide the account and paid features); our legitimate interests (to secure, maintain, and improve the Platform) balanced against your rights; your consent (where we ask for it, such as optional cookies or notifications); and compliance with legal obligations.
5. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies for authentication sessions and security. Optional analytics cookies, if introduced, will request your consent where applicable law requires it. We do not use third-party advertising cookies and we do not track you across other sites.
6. Service providers (subprocessors)
We rely on a small set of processors that act on our instructions under their own security and privacy commitments: Vercel (application hosting and logs), Neon (managed PostgreSQL database), Stripe (subscription payments), Resend (transactional and alert email), Anthropic (AI report generation — see §8), and, only if you connect it, Telegram (alert delivery). We share with each only what that service needs to function.
7. Third-party market & blockchain data
Market and blockchain data displayed on the Platform comes from third-party providers (market-data APIs and public blockchain indexers). Queries to these providers are made server-side and your personal identity is not shared with them. On-chain wallet data shown on the Platform is public blockchain information — it is not data about our users.
8. AI processing
AI-generated analyses are produced by our AI provider from aggregated market and on-chain data. We do not send your personal account information (email, credentials, billing identifiers) to the AI provider as part of report generation, and generated text is validated before it is shown to you.
9. Data sharing & no sale
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We disclose personal data only to the processors listed above, when you direct us to, or when we are legally required to (for example, a valid legal request).
10. International transfers
Our providers may process data in Canada, the United States, or the European Union. Where personal data is transferred across borders, we rely on the safeguards offered by those providers (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect it consistent with applicable law.
11. Data security & retention
Data is encrypted in transit, access to production systems is restricted, and secrets are never stored in the codebase. We retain personal data for as long as your account is active and for a limited period afterward as needed to meet legal, security, and accounting obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. Residents of Québec, the EU/UK, and California (among others) have specific statutory rights. To exercise any of them, contact us at the address below; we will respond within the timeframe your law requires and will not discriminate against you for exercising a right.
13. Children's privacy
The Platform is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of majority. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Platform evolves. The "last updated" date reflects the current version, and we will take reasonable steps to notify you of material changes.
